Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between HSL and HSV?
Both use Hue, Saturation, and a third dimension. HSL uses Lightness (50% = pure color, 100% = white). HSV uses Value (100% = pure color, 0% = black). HSL is more intuitive for designers; HSV is common in graphics software.
What WCAG contrast ratio do I need?
AA requires 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text (18pt+ or 14pt+ bold). AAA (stricter) requires 7:1 normal and 4.5:1 large. The checker shows pass/fail for all four levels at once.
